Living in Hollywood, California, one often finds oneself at gatherings centering around one kind of celebrity or another. Ken has been the creator of so many fantastic and beautiful images of all kinds that he truly ranks as one of the finest photographic talents alive today. I first met Ken when I was asked to do some bondage rigging for an amazingly exotic modern look that Ken was trying to create. Over the years we stayed in touch and became friends, and so it came to pass that he invited me to have Arcane & Company perform as the solitary show for his VIP birthday celebration at an exclusive club in Hollywood. Since I knew that celebrities throughout the industry would be in attendance, I chose to create a particularly fun show which would occur “in the round,” right out there amongst the attendees with the audience 360 degrees around us. Kind of crazy, kind of hectic, but fortunately I had other friends attending to do a bit of crowd control. In all honesty the only problem was that famous photographers have lots of photographer friends, and as such there were so many flashes going off around us during the show that it was blinding me – not such a good idea when swinging whips or wielding fire! I finally had to stop to kindly ask the photographers to refrain from using any further flash photography – not an issue for a pro photographer, and in truth photos of fire come out MUCH better. After all was said and done, the crowd was buzzing with delight, having encountered an entire new world of performance art that that they had never seen before…
